Sabs does Red Lips!

Jul 30, 2010

I'm in Texas you'll and a new location calls for a new look right?! Right!  I wanted to do a vampire inspired look but with most of my makeup packed away, it was not happening.  However, today I unpacked a bit so I was able to vamp it up a little.  Complete vampire inspired look will come next week promise!

As most of you know I do a pink lip like 99.99% of the time so today I'm venturing out with the red lips. I have purchased quite a few red lipsticks in the past couple of weeks so you may see more red lip features from me in the near future.

I have listed what I am wearing below.

Face:
NARS Sheer Matte Foundation in New Orleans mixed with a bit of Trinidad
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus (used under eyes for highlighting)
MAC Studio Fix Foundation in NW45 (used to set the NARS Liquid Foundations)

MAC Mineralize Blush Duo in Band of Roses
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Candlelight (Loves!)

Lips:
MAC Lip Liner in Brick
MAC Lipstick in Russian Red
(FYI I blotted out my natural lip color using a bit of my MAC concealer)
Eyes:
E.L.F. Eye Beauty Book - Smoky Eyes
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
E.L.F. Beauty Book Smokey Eye Edition - I used the color on the bottom right all over the lid and blended upwards.  I used the color right above that one for blending out the other color and I also used it underneath the brows.
MAC Blacktrack Fluidline with the black shadow from the E.L.F. Beauty Book on top to set it.
Lancome Definicils HD Waterproof Mascara
Mufe Eyebrow Corrector 4

I am not totally loving the rosy cheeks with the red lip but I don't mind it either.  I think maybe next time I will use a more muted color on the cheeks.  I am loving the red lip though.

So you guys have any red lip combo's that you are loving?  Do tell!

Look of the Day! Partylicious is ridiculous!

Jul 26, 2010

I'm back for my look of the day post!  I did this look on the day I went to the salon and then repeated it the next day because I liked it so much.  I love blue eye colors because they are just fun.

I am also trying out the NARS Sheer Matte foundation by itself without mixing it with the MUFE HD Foundation but I am not liking the results so far.  I will keep you guys posted though if I change my mind!

So here is what I used in this picture

Face:
Bare Escentuals Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer
NARS Sheer Matte Foundation in New Orleans
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Plus (under eyes)
MAC Studio Fix Foundation in NW45
MAC A Little Bit of Sunshine Mineralize Blush Duo

Eyes:
MUFE Eyebrow Corrector 4
MAC Studio FInish Concealer in NW40 - Used under brows
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
NARS Kilimanjaro I Eye Shadow - Used in the tear duct area
MAC Partylicious Pigment - Used all over lid
MAC Atlantic Blue Eye Shadow - Used in crease and blended inward and upward
NARS Night Flight Eye Shadow - Used in the crease to further define
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack - Used on top lash line
Bare Escentuals Big & Bright Eyeliner in Intense black - Used on lower lash line
MAC Eye Kohl in Float on By - Used on bottom waterline
Lancome Definicils HD Waterproof Mascara in Black
Lips:
MAC Dazzleglass Creme in  If It's Pink

That's it!  And now I have to go clean!

Hair of the Day! Beanie be gone!

Jul 25, 2010

Hellooooo! Hope you guys are doing well.  I'm still getting prepared for the big move to Texas.  The movers came a couple of days ago and hauled most of our crap out of here.  My husband said he could only fit 1 extra suitcase in the trunk so I had to stuff as much makeup as possible into one freakin suitcase meaning I had to ship the rest.  Sucks but hey what can I do!  Oh and I am still trying to figure out how to get my MAC Dare to Wear haul before I hit the road.  I might call my new apartment manager tomorrow to get our new address and ship it there!

Now on to the topic, my hair!  I thought I would do a hair post as you lovelies are probably sick of seeing me in that doggone cap thingy that I wear in all my pictures!
So, I went to the salon yesterday and my stylist took some photos of my hair which is awesome because I cannot maintain my hairstyle for more than a day.

Background Hair Info:
In March of this year, I made the leap and cut my hair really short.  I was done with the extensions and wanted a change.  I also decided not to have a relaxer put on my hair either as I am trying to stay away from the harsh chemicals!  Now I am trying to grow my hair out and so far, so good.

I use Ojon's Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner at home once a week and get my hair washed and conditioned at the salon once a week.  I also use the Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment once every two weeks and I try not to put heat on my hair except for when I go to the salon.

By the way in the pictures I am wearing my Partylicious look which I will post in tomorrow's Look of the Day.  I hope you like this post as it doesn't involve much makeup talk!

Obsession! Dior Addict Lip Glow Review

Jul 22, 2010

Hi Everyone!  Missed you yesterday!  I decided to go to San Francisco to say hello and goodbye to some of my old co-workers and to have lunch with my former boss.  I hate driving in the city so I parked at the BART station and took the BART train into the city.  Of course as soon as I sat down on the BART, I realized I forgot my freakin Lip Glow!  I was so irritated that I seriously rode the BART to the mall stop and went to Nordstrom looking to buy another one.  I was appalled that I wouldn't be able to apply more after my lunch date.  So over dramatic! But in all seriousness I LOVE this product.  Like no joke she is my bestie.  So of course, I have to tell you all about her!   Oh and side note, Nordstrom was sold out of it and so was Sephora.  BUMMER!  Okay now on to the review.

Dior Addict Lip Glow:  Color Awakening Lip Balm w/ 10 SPF
According to the Sephora website, the balm "responds to the color chemistry of your lips to create a shade that is uniquely yours.

This product does something crazy to my lips where they look moisturized, have just the right amount of gloss and are the prettiest color without adding anything else on top.  When I bought this at Sephora, I thought for sure I would be kicking myself over paying $28 for a freakin lip balm but I would do it again and again because this is like my holy grail lip product.  My lips usually peel and feather like crazy but not with this.  hey look smooth for hours and my lips keep the tint even when the balm has worn off a bit.  Loves it!  Also, I have never gotten so many compliments on my lips before.
Look guys no feathering!

Final Verdict:  Um have you guys not been reading?!  LOVES IT!  Loves it so much!  Go get it if you can stomach paying almost 30 bucks for a lip product!

CCO MAC Haul!

Jul 20, 2010

Hey there!  So in a few I'll start working on my Look of the Day called "the world is a vampire"!  Sorry to post so late but they have been running a marathon of Wife Swap and one seriously had me crying like a little baby.  Oh and of course I indulged myself in a little "you are not the father" with Maury!  I don't watch much TV when my son is around so I get to watch all the random stuff now!

Yesterday I told you about my random CCO trip.  To be honest with you, I like the excitement for all the new colletions, therefore I wasn't that excited about the selection they had but hey that doesn't mean I didn't want to lose my mind and spend spend spend!  For those who don't know about the CCO, it is a cosmetic outlet that sells overstock or older collections from some of our favorite brands.  The one that I went to had MAC and Bobbi Brown amongst others.  I was so focused on the MAC section that I didn't much concentrate on anything else.  So I only got 3 items there, which is a miracle for me to say the least.  I hauled the Fun in the Sun Mineralize Kit, Porcelain Pink Mineralize Skin Finish and Dark Secret Sheer Mystery Powder which I believe is from the Monogram Collection.

So lets start with the Fun in the Sun Kit!

 The box!
Clockwise from Left: Shimpagne, Play on Plums, Nuance, 181 SE Brush

This kit contains the following:
  • Shimpagne Mineralize Skinfinish Beige shimmer with golden/copper sparkle (Limited Edition
  • Nuance Mineralize Blush Mid-tone peach with gold pearl (Limited Edition)
  • Play on Plums Mineralize Eye Shadow Peachy gold with pink and bronze veining/Bronzed burgundy mono (Limited Edition)
  • 181SE Brush
From Left to Right:  Play on Plums (2 colors), Shimpagne, Nuance

I really wanted to try Shimpagne so that is really the reason I bought this kit everything else is a bonus!

Next I picked the Porcelain Pink Mineralize Skinfinish a soft pink coral with gold sparkle.  I only reason I got this one is because as of late I have become obsessed with MSF's due to all these beauty blogs!

The last thing I got was the Dark Secret Sheer Mystery powder because it was freakin pretty and reminded me of a fancy pocket watch!  Of course, I still plan on using it but I have to be honest with you guys on the reasons for purchasing this stuff!

So now that I hauled all these neutral colors, I can't wait for the MAC Dare to Wear collection to come out so I can get some color in my life!

Look of the Day! MAC Look in a Box Miss Violet

Jul 19, 2010

Since my son has been at his "little mama's" house, (that's what he calls my mom) I have been uber lazy.  My hubs is off work so we've been going out to eat a lot and no cooking for me!  So anywhoo, this awesome hubs of mine took me to the CCO (cosmetic company outlet) in Vacaville, CA on Saturday after we came from Great America and he got me a few things which I will share with you tomorrow!  I think I'm becoming a MAC addict.  Have I abandoned Sephora?

Well on to today's look.  I love this kit so much more than I did when I initially bought it!  Love Love Love it.  I used every single item and I have no complaints which is rare! Okay so maybe a little complaint as the beauty powder and blush look great in person but they appear a bit too light when I used the flash on my camera.

Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale MAC Haul!

Jul 16, 2010

Hey there!

I am really doing too much lately with MAC!  I am seriously getting a bit obsessed with these collections.  I can't believe I slept on the MAC hype for like four years because I definitely missed out!  So here's the deal folks I recently pre-ordered a bunch of stuff from the Nordie's Sale and I finally went to pick it up on Friday.  I had to shoo my hubs away so he wouldn't see the damage I caused.  It's easier to tell him later because I know he won't make me take it back!  Now mind you, he wouldn't stop me from buying it either but he might give me the I don't know about this look which I hate!  Now let me tell you the lady that helped me at the counter was really nice but she was seriously in space.  I would give you some spacey examples but you guys know that I always tend to ramble so I'll stop now and get to the good stuff.  You wanna know what I got?

Well, I purchased the 2 brush sets, the Tawny Look in a Box, the Miss Violet Look in a Box, four eye shadows in a palette, and two lip glosses....woo I need makeup rehab after this haul.

Wanna see pictures and swatches?  If so, click the "Read More" button below.  Duh! :-)

Jul 14, 2010

So here is what I did.  Lets skip the brows, foundation, preps and primes and get to the good stuff!  (If you want to know about that skipped stuff, check out this post!)

MAC New Vibe Mineralize Blush Duo (the gold side) on the inner corner
MAC Petticoat Mineralize Skinfinish in the center of the lid and blended outward
MAC Band of Roses Mineralize Blush Duo (the darker side) in the crease
MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (top lash line)
Stila Violet Smudgepot

Face:
MAC A Little Bit Of Sunshine Mineralize Blush Duo (darker side only)
MAC Petticoat Mineralize Skinfinish on cheekbones

Lips:
Dior Addict Lip Glow (review to come soon!)
MAC Petticoat Mineralize Skinfinish (I swiped my finger across the product and dabbed it on the center of my lip!  Not sure if it was meant for this so try  at your own risk!)

This is one of my favorite looks because in person it looks really glowy and fun!  I hope you all like it too!

So, any creative ways that you guys have used In the Groove?  Any looks that you would like to see me try?  If so, leave me a comment!

Lancome Foundation and Mascara Review!

Jul 13, 2010

Hello people!

Sorry I missed yesterday but I'm back now and I'm ready to review!  I honestly don't even remember when I exactly bought these Lancome items but I believe it was a couple of weeks ago.  I randomly stopped at the Lancome counter in Macy's to pick up the Definicils Precious Cells Mascara because I've been seeing that dern picture of Julia Roberts everywhere and I was like hey I want to try that!  The only thing is I wanted something waterproof so I picked up the Definicils Waterproof High Definition Mascara.  Now I'm not sure what is so High Def about this mascara as it looks and feels like a regular old mascara to me but hey maybe I'm just not that sensitive to these sort of things. So any way after the sales associate rang up the purchase for me, she asked if I wanted the sample, so I decided to get the foundation that I had previously mentioned in my magazine haul.  I couldn't remember the name so she shade matched me using one of the latest foundations and it was the Lancome Teint Idole Fresh Wear 18 Hour Shine-Free Foundation (dang that's a long name).  So as soon as I hear 18 hours and matte finish come out of her mouth I am kinda sold but once she shade matched me and it melted into my skin like butter, I was like "I'll take it" and she thinks I mean the sample and I did not.  I was like ring the foundation up and give it to me NOW!

So now that I've tried both of the products, it's time to review.

Mascara Review Definicils Waterproof High Definition Mascara $24.50 USD (.17FL. OZ)
This mascara does what it says it's going to do.  It lengthen, separates and doesn't clump.  I love this one.   However, I know that almost twenty-five bucks is a lot of money to spend on a mascara and I think that there are a lot of lower priced mascaras that can give the same effect.  FYI, I purchased this in the shade black but it also comes in brown.
Final Verdict:  I would definitely purchase this one again as I love any mascara that doesn't clump!  I also think this may be really really good layered over the Lancome Hypnose Drama to give volume and extra length.

Foundation Review Lancome Teint Idole Fresh Wear 18 Hour Shine-Free Foundation  $32 USD (.8FL.OZ.)

The shade I purchase is Suede 2W and it is perfect on me.  The foundation comes in 17 shades and they only have about 3 darker shades and the Suede 2W was the darkest one from what I could tell, so not everyone may be able to find an exact match.

The foundation feels very lightweight and to me it's like I have nothing on my face at all.  This is definitely a matte finish and gives me a light to medium coverage.  However, in my experience, it didn't last anywhere near 18 hours.  For example, today I've had it on for about 2 hours and I can see the discoloration on the sides of my face coming through.  That is definitely not a good thing for me because I live in the middle of nowhere and it takes me almost an hour to get to anywhere I want to go and I hate touching up my face after I leave the house.  I never want to have to pack every item that I used that day in fear that it might not be on my face later on in the day.  I spackle spackle spackle so it should stay put, right?!  Well this unfortunately did not.

Final Verdict:  So, would I buy this again?  The answer to that is probably not, unless the discoloration on my face goes away because it just doesn't cover those well, even after I pre-concealed. Plus, I like full coverage so this just doesn't work for me.

Look of the Day! In the Groove

Jul 11, 2010

Another lazy Sunday in the middle of nowhere.  Everyone is in that blah mood and I am bored to tears unfortunately.  So after this post, I'm going to get my blah self up and do something!

Now on to today's Look of the Day!  Funny Story behind this look, after I left the salon, I went to go put gas in my car and this lady behind me at the pump, leaves her car and jogs over to me like what are you wearing on your face.  So flattering! So I start to tell her and she seriously had no idea what I was talking about and was taking mental notes and repeating it to herself as she walked back to her car.  She kept repeating Sephora, Make Up Forever, HD....so funny!

I used Style Influencer, Stereo Rose and A Little Bit of Sunshine from MAC's In the Groove collection to achieve this look.

Warning:  this photo was taken before I went to the shop and I had just conditioned my hair.  Don't be alarmed by all the random curls sticking out!  FYI:  I get my hair "done" every Saturday and by Sunday it looks like I never went....smh

Keep reading to learn more about creating this look and to see more pictures!

MAC In the Groove Haul!

Jul 10, 2010

Hi Loves,

I hope you all survived the Stereo Rose madness this week!  I promise you, a couple of months ago, I had no idea what an MSF was let alone that one could be as popular as this.  I am so happy to report that I was able to snag four!  I was so excited because the night before I went to the mall, I had the "it's not that big of a deal" talk with myself to prepare me for missing out on the product!  I am really a little nuts sometimes.  So any way, I called my favorite associate at Nordstrom on Tuesday and she totally kept her word and had 2 waiting for me when I got there.  Before I went to Nordie's though, I stopped off at MAC just to see if I could luck out and get an extra one to give away to one of you beautiful people.

So here is my MAC story.  I don't know if the hilarity of the situation will translate via text but I will try!  So I walk into MAC all non-chalant as if I am just browsing (btw, I was at the mall at 9:30a and it doesn't open until 10a) and the associate walks up to me and asks me if I need some help and I'm looking at the products like ooooh what is this as if I hadn't been stalking the collection for DAYS.  I pick up Stereo Rose and say "oh this is pretty, do you have any of these" and she says "I only have 2 left" and I go "I'll take them both and this and this and this..." totally knowing all the names of the items and she just gives me a look like ummmmhmmmm.  But I am a little p.o.'d that she forgot to put Partylicious into my bag, but hey, you can't have it all right?!  Right after I snagged my two extra Stereo Roses girls started trickling in asking for it and it was sold out!  I feel a little bad but hey now I get to give 1...maybe 2 away!

So here is a breakdown of everything I hauled!
I hauled all four of the Mineralize Skinfinishes

Stereo Rose - I really do like this one but it is not love at first site.  I think I'll have to date this one a bit to really find out what all the hype was about.  As stated before, I hauled four of these!

By Candlelight - Haven't had a chance to try this yet but I'll be sure to add it to one of next weeks Look of the Day posts!

Comfort - Haven't had a chance to try this one either but first impression is womp womp but we shall see!  I'll do a look with this one too.

Petticoat - She's so freakin pretty.  I love her and so I had to haul 2!  Is it wrong that I am more excited about this one than Stereo Rose?

I hauled 3 of the 5 Mineralize Blush Duos
Band of  Roses - So pretty, can you tell how much I love pink blush?  Can't wait to use this one!

A Little Bit of Sunshine - I love this one and have been using the right side as a subtle blush when I do my crazy eye shadow looks!

New Vibe - This one is like a marriage of the other two I got.  I get the gold/bronzy color and a bright blush color which I love.

I only hauled 2 of the 9 Mineralize Eye Shadow Trios which I am now regretting since they are so freakin pretty!

Love to Love - These are simply really gorgeous neutral colors.  You can expect to see a Look of the Day really soon using this one!

Style Influencer - I already did a look with this one.  I love it, love it, love it.  I got so many compliments today it was unreal!  The pigmentation is really awesome and the colors compliment each other really well.  Pretty Pretty Pretty!

***Side Note:  I only hauled If It's Pink Dazzleglass Creme from the Alice & Olivia for MAC collection.

I love the texture of this lip gloss and really which I had more but I wasn't feeling the other two colors.  Oh and I hate the packaging. so instead of changing the packaging, they just put this sleeve on it.  Really....

I love this collection and wanted to get so much more but I got caught up in the MSF madness!

Check out these collections at MAC if you want more info!  Also, don't forget to enter my Stereo Rose contest!

Until next time, stay GLAM~
