Instagram - Work Look of the Day 3.27.13

Mar 27, 2013

Today I was pressed for time as usual, and I had to do half of my makeup with my daughter on my lap!  Anytime this happens, I usually go for a simple eye look so that I can get it done and get out of the house.  I always end up reaching for my Pressed Pigments by MAC because they always add a little extra something to any eye look!  I cannot stop using them.

I'm wearing the following items in this picture:
EYES
Make Up For Ever Eye Brow Corrector - 4,  Make Up For Ever Full Coverage Concealer - Fawn, Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Eyeshadows - Texture, Brown Script & Carbon, MAC Pressed Pigment - Day Gleam, Wet N Wild Gel Eyeliner - Black, Red Cherry Lashes 747M

FACE
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation - New Guinea, Make Up For Ever Full Coverage Concealer - Fawn, Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer - Medium Deep, Ben Nye Luxury Powder - Beige Suede, MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation - NW43, Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer - Ebony 8

CHEEKS

Hey guys, I wanted to show you the last bareMinerals duo that I purchased from Ulta but I need to retake the pictures  because they didn't come out that well.

Since that is in works, I decided to show you guys a photo sneak peak from the photoshoot that I did makeup for.  This was a personal photoshoot for the friend of the photographer so I got to play around with some color and this is the result!  Hope you like it!

bareMinerals Eyeshadow Duo - The Escape

Mar 16, 2013

I purchased two of the Ready Eyeshadow Duos from bareMinerals.  The one that I'm featuring today has two great neutral matte eyeshadows that I'm really impressed with.

bareMinerals Eyeshadow Duo
Shade Purchased:  The Escape (Daydream, Wanderlust)

Price: $20 USD

Purchased From:  Ulta.com

The packaging is very similar to the Nars packaging.  It looks good at first but they get dirty so easily.  Good thing I wipe all of my packaging down regularly because that would drive me crazy.

Great additions to the collection!

bareMinerals Eyeshadow Quad - The Next Big Thing

Mar 15, 2013

Ulta recently had a sale and of course I had to participate.  All of the bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow Quads and Duos were discounted so I grabbed the shades that caught my eye. The quad that I chose is a limited edition but it may still be available at some locations.

bareMinerals Eyeshadow Quad
Shade Purchased:  The Next Big Thing (Rising Star, Smash Hit, Hoopla, Ensemble)
Price: $30 USD
Purchased From:  Ulta.com

I really like all of the colors in the quad but my two favorites are Smash Hit and Hoopla.  If you haven't tried the BE Ready Eyeshadows, I highly recommend them.  The colors are pretty, the pigmentation is awesome and they apply really smoothly.

Look of the Day - Instaglam Instagram featuring Banana Powder

Mar 10, 2013

I've been playing around with highlight and contour a lot lately as I think this is an integral part of being a makeup artist and something that I love to do.  I also am always trying to improve my technique and hopefully learn something new.  In my kit and in my personal collection I have the Ben Nye Banana Powder.  I have received tons of questions from people wanting to know if the Banana Powder will work for them. Since I have received so many questions I decided to do a look on myself showing how the Banana Powder looks on darker skin.  For reference purposes, I am a MAC NW43/45 and I wear Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 175.

The Banana Powder is definitely more of a severe highlight look than I usually do but I still like it, however, I do prefer the Beige Suede for a more natural highlight.

For more information about the Ben Nye Powders, be sure to check out my post here.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil - Dragon Girl

Mar 5, 2013

I was a total Nars girl a year or so ago but I've strayed just a bit and became a full blown MAC addict.  However, I'm making my way back to Nars and I of course had to grab a lippie.  Funny thing is that I went into the store a few weeks ago looking for this color and they were out of stock but when I went back, a couple of days ago, the saleslady recognized me and let me know it was back in stock (yeah for customer service)!

NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL
Shade Purchased:  Dragon Girl
Price: $25 USD
Available at Sephora

I like this shade but it's not a wow for me.  I have so many more powerful reds in my collection and I don't think this one is as flattering to my complexion as some of my other shades.  Also, it only wore for about 2 hours which wasn't very long for a matte lip.  The application was super convenient and easy though so I'll definitely think about trying more shades in the future.
