Look of the Day!

Jun 29, 2010

Well hello there,

As promised I tried the Bare Escentuals Face Fashion Urban Vibe for my look of the day and I have to say I am a little disappointed because my original predictions were correct.  The colors came out a bit frosty on my complexion and I was not feeling it because I had to blend so much to get the colors to look decent on me.  So after crazy blend blend blend of the Smoky Violet eye shadow, I finally calmed down the frost look of the Light Show eye shadow.

Please keep in mind that usually I spend about an hour or so on my Look of the Days but this time I only spent about 20 minutes so maybe if I took more time I could make it look better.  SIDE NOTE:  I was a bit ticked off because I couldn't find the kit for like an hour and had to freakin look everywhere before I discovered it under my son's Elmo book!

Also, I did not like the Teal liner on the top lid because I am so accustomed to the really defined look that I get with black eyeliner but I do think that the color is pretty on the lower lash line...complete personal preference though.

The blush just kinda sat on the surface of my skin and was a little difficult to blend in and the lip color wasn't as vibrant on me as it looked in the tube. Sad days!

If I play with the colors and incorporate some other products, I can make this kit better but that isn't what is supposed to happen when you buy a color kit right?

Products Used:
BE Prime Time
BE SPF 15 Matte Foundation in Golden Dark
BE Tinted Mineral Veil SPF 25
BE Prime Time Eyes
BE Retro Liner Shadow (used to fill in eye brows)
MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer in NW 40 (used under eye brows for definition)
BE Face Fashion Urban Vibe Collection
BE Flawless Definition Mascara in Black

Any whoo...what do ya think? Yes/No/Maybe!

BE Face Fashion Urban Vibe Review

Jun 28, 2010

Hi there!
Bare Escentuals Face Fashion: Urban Vibe ($43 Value) Face Fashion: Urban Vibe

Sorry for the weekend hiatus but I've been hangin out.  So on Saturday, I thought I was going to go see Eclipse and I drove out to meet my friends only to realize that I had the wrong weekend.  Brain freeze seriously.  So I went out with one of my friends and we went to go see the new Tom Cruise movie.  Okay so blah blah blah on to the makeup!  My friend that I met on Saturday gave me the new Bare Escentuals Face Fashion kit.  I love gifts let me tell you.  Like I seriously love getting things for free.

Okay so I love the colors in this kit but I don't exactly see how the eyeliner fits in but I plan on doing a Look of the Day with this tomorrow so we shall see.  Also, all of the colors in this kit are not available individually so if you fall in love with something, it may not be available again if you run out.  But let's be serious, it takes forever to run out of bareMinerals mineral products.  You will probably run out of the eyeliner and the lip gloss as these seem to be the stand outs in the kit!

The kit comes with two eye shadows, one mini eyeliner, one blush and a mini lip gloss. The case it comes in is really sturdy and has all the components inside along with instructions on application techniques.  The kit does not include brushes which may be a turn-off to some but I don't really care about that as I have dozens of brushes.
The eye shadows are .01 oz compared to the regular size of .02 oz and come in the following colors:
(From left to right:  Light Show, Smoky Violet)
Light Show - a peach frost that appears really light on my skin tone and is more silvery.
Smoky Violet - a violet sheen that has a tiny bit of gold/multi colored fleck in it.  This color is also a little light on my skin but you can build the color.
The mini eyeliner in Teal is .006 oz compared to the regular size of .012 oz. I love this color and it is seriously on trend.
The Haute Pink blush comes in .02 oz compared to a regular size of .03 oz and is described as a magenta pink.  This one appears to have a slight silver sheen/tone to it on my complexion but I didn't buff it in so it is just sitting on the surface of my skin.
The Mini lip gloss in Plumtini is .08 oz compared to the regular size in .014 oz.  This is a gorgeous shear pink/purple color and is described as a candied plum.

This kit is a Likey not a Lovey as I am only in love with two items, the eyeliner and the lip gloss and at $34, I'm not sure I would purchase this one.  Okay who are we kidding, I collect these so I would definitely buy this but unless your an addict like me you can leave this one unless you have a lighter complexion, then the colors may not appear as chalky on you.

MUFE Take 2

Jun 25, 2010

MAKE UP FOR EVER Beauty In A Box - Aqua Essentials Kit ($124 Value) Beauty In A Box - Aqua Essentials KitWell yesterday was garbage.  I was just in the worst mood ever for no apparent reason.  My poor husband was so great about it though and cheered me up.  But hey another day another makeup trial.  Oh and while I am typing this, I am happy to report that my neighbors have finally stopped blasting their music!  The day just gets better.  Back to business...I am now liking the MUFE Aqua Essentials kit a little more today.  I stepped out of my comfort zone of using brushes and tried these out with my little fingers which helped a lot.
As you may recall from my previous post, the kit comes with the following:
(items listed in order of swatches)

Aqua Cream 13 - Warm Beige
This is my favorite color of the two as it is a warm neutral champagne color that can really be worn alone to give a nice little color to the lids.

Aqua Cream 15 - Taupe
I'm usually not a fan of taupe colors as they just are a little blah to me but this one blended well with the 13 and added depth to my look.

Aqua Eyes 0L - Black
Loves Black Eyeliner...period point blank.  This one was good but I had to do a few coats to get the rich color black that I am so fond of.
Aqua Eyes 21L - Metallic Grey
I would never wear this color on my upper lash line.  I tried it the other day and it just looked weird.  I tried it today on the bottom lash line and smudge it a bit and I liked it a lot more.  I would definitely use this one on one of my smokey eye looks.

Aqua Lips - Nude Beige
I am not a huge lip person as I usually keep most of the focus on my eyes and so this was great as it is a nude/pink color and I layered a similar color lip gloss on top which gave me a pretty nude lip look.

Aqua Smoky Lash - Extra Black
This will definitely be added to my favorite mascara list as this gave me length and DID NOT CLUMP!  Whoa lets repeat...did not clump!  Okay so with that said it did not give me a lot of volume but I didn't mind it because it had my lashes looking long and pretty.  LOVES IT!
Sens'Eyes
LOVES it.  I used just a little and it removed my eye makeup with absolutely no irritation.

This kit also has a nifty little How-To-Guide in the flap of the package to guide us through the application process.  I did not like the looks that came from me using this guide so I just did what I wanted to do and it was better for me.

FINAL VERDICT:  Me Likey but I would not purchase the kit again.  I would only recommend this for makeup addicts like myself who like to try new things and have a little extra cash floating around.  Otherwise leave it where it sits and spend your money on something you will LOVE!

Rant of the Day! I know you see me.

Jun 23, 2010

Okay so I am a little disturbed as I just spent some more money on makeup that I am not that excited about but hey what can I do.  However, the thing that ticked me off the mostest (yes not a real word) was the customer service or lack thereof.  Seriously, if I am walking around for 20 minutes and can't even get a "hi" or "can I help you" or anything, something is truly wrong.  These chicks were just chit chatting amongst each other as if they are all on break.  I'm sorry but I am a paying customer and I could care less what new workout regime you are on.  I also could care less that you think your coworkers a** is too big.  Like seriously, what happened to good/great customer service?  Oh and then once someone finally acknowledged my presence, I ask her a question and she looks at me all bewildered and says to me "oh um I don't work in this brand".  Are you kidding me right now?  Why are you over here if you have no intention of really helping me?  The heat was enough to make me edgy but this right here put me over the edge.  I'm glad they don't make commission because otherwise I would have walked out with a sad face and no makeup in hand.  Freakin Meanie LOSERS!

MUFE Haul!

Jun 22, 2010

Hi Loves,

Well I guess this post could really be titled Sephora Haul as I have gotten so much stuff lately, however, I wanted to focus on one product line at a time.  It helps to keep me focused and not ramble so much!  So any way, I had to order this product online because when I went into the store, it was like they had no idea as to what I was talking about which is always surprising to me.  When I worked for a cosmetic company,  I always checked to see what we were selling online and in other divisions....I guess that's just me though and I only had to keep track of one product line and not multiple ones.  Back to my point,  I hauled the MUFE Aqua Essentials Kit.  Let me start by telling you that I looked at this kit for many days and kept thinking to myself, oh I need this!  Yeah not really.  It took me forever to press checkout because it is retailing for $69 and I know myself too well because even if I didn't like it, I will not take it back just because I am a makeup pack rat.  So now here it is sitting on my couch and spackled on my face and I am doing that sigh thing again.  Want to love it but just can't....I don't like it on me at all.  I tried applying it twice and still no bueno.  However, I am determined to love this kit though so I'm going to give it one more try and I will post LOTD pictures and a real review of each item later this week!  Until then, check out the info below.

The kit contains all full size products except for the Sens'Eyes.

Aqua Cream 13 - Warm beige (Waterproof Cream Color)
Aqua Cream 15 - Taupe (Waterproof Cream Color)
Aqua Eyes 0L - Matte Black (Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil)
Aqua Eyes 21L - Dark Grey (Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil)
Aqua Lip 1C - Nude Beige (Waterproof Lipliner Pencil)
Aqua Smoky Lash - Black (Waterproof Mascara)
Sens'Eyes (Sensitive Eye Cleaner)

A Great Foundation is All You Need!

Jun 21, 2010

Yesterday was father's day and I went to visit my daddy!  Of course he was happy to see me but he gave me the look...the I think you have on too much makeup look.  Okay so I had on like five eye shadows but hey I liked it and that is all that matters eh.  I wasn't fond of my eyebrows though as I have been trying to grow them out and am hating every moment of it!

Enough chit chat, now on to today's subject, foundation!  I hate trying to find the right foundation but I have come across some really great ones lately and my skin is happy happy happy.  My latest obsession is the MUFE HD Invisible Cover Foundation I love love love this foundation and it is actually my first liquid foundation ever.  I started out on my MAC Studio Fix which is still in my stash but I use it now to help set my liquid foundations.  I've tried the BE Original Foundation which I couldn't use a lot of because of the ashy tint...that is until they introduced the "golden" line which I liked but I loved the Matte Version of the foundation and used that for quite some time.  I wore the BE Matte Foundation when I went on my trip to Hawaii and I looked great, even after swimming with the dolphins!

After using BE for so long, I wanted to try out a different product and had been hearing a lot of raves on the MUFE HD foundation so I tried it and OMG!  Love Love Love.  The coverage is great, the color selection is awesome and it gives me that airbrushed look.  Who wouldn't love that?  So of course being the makeup junkie that I am, I couldn't stop with a product I love...instead I kept going.  I headed to Sephora and scooped up the NARS Sheer Matte Foundation and I love this one too but I got the wrong color so I mixed it with my MUFE and ommmmggggg.  Perfection!  I thought the MUFE couldn't get any better but hey I was wrong.  The NARS made the foundation super matte which I love and the color was pretty perfect.

Here is a list of the colors that I am using in each foundation:
MAC Studio Fix = NW45

MUFE Invisible Cover = 175

NARS = Trinidad

BE = Golden Dark

So tell me what foundation are you lovelies using?

WTH!

Jun 19, 2010

This is my wth (what the hell) post of the week.  Now I don't know about you'll but I  feel like I am way to old to be a Twilight fan.  However, I cannot help myself, I am feeling the Edward Cullen.  I read all four books right before the first movie came out and OMG I felt like a teenager again.  I was smitten!  I stopped by the store today to pick up New Moon in order to gear myself up for next week.  I plan on driving two hours to go pick up my friend (another Twilight nerd) and we are going to see Eclipse.  I know I am doing way too much here but hey I can't help it.  We all have to have our vices right.  Mine are makeup and vampires, to name a few and hey I really can't help it!

Look of the Day!

Jun 18, 2010

Whoa today has been rough!  Woke up with that uggh feeling but had to push through it.  I took a crazy long nap and when I rose from my slumber, I of course had to hit the web and do more of my daily makeup lusting.  I am seriously happy (sad for my wallet) that these makeup companies are killing it with these new collections!  I am one of those people that love when makeup is in a limited edition series or a collectible.  That is what keeps things exciting for me in my makeup journey.  First up on my radar right now is the Bare Escentuals Face Fashion kit.  I've been collecting those for the longest time and now the new one is on QVC!  Hauling that on Saturday.  Oh and Stila has this Travel Palette for $10 that is also on my radar and I am trying to decide what else to get because I don't want to pay shipping for just one little thing.  Now finally after all my ranting we can get to the look of the day!  A few weeks ago I wrote about my Sephora Haul and was supposed to review all my products that I bought but I have been buying so much makeup lately that honestly I forgot about it a little. However, Too Faced just release a new shadow palette and I want it badly so I made a deal with myself that I have to use the one I have and try the three recommended looks before I buy the new one. The one I currently have is the Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection.
The one I want is the Too Faced Naked Eye Soft and Sexy Collection.  I am not the natural look kinda girl as I prefer to be a little vamp but none the less I love these little collections.  By the way, I also have the Too Faced Smoky Eye Palette which I love.  I know I am still rambling but finally here is the product shot and the eye look is at the bottom of the post.  FYI:  I used the colors in the Day Section.
Surprisingly, I loved this look and my husband said it looked sexy!  Score 1 for the Natural Eye kit!

Here is a close up eye shot for you.  I plan on rocking this look a lot this summer and playing up the lips a little more than usual.

Destined to Shop....oh how they feed my addiction!

Why do I sign up for these email updates from my favorite makeup brands?  Is it because I secretly want to spend more money on makeup?  Well it's not exactly a secret considering I blog, tweet and fb about how much I love my face paints!  Okay so this morning Sephora sends me my VIB email and guess what, I find all kind of things that I want to haul immediately.  This is especially bad because I just received a package from Sephora yesterday and I pre-ordered the MAC Nordie's collection last week.  I know I need help but I don't want it!  Plus hard work deserves some reward right?!
Check out my must have right now!

Benefit's Sunday Funday

Good thing is Sephora sent me a free gift code for a Smashbox gift!  Code is VIBSMASH.  The item is a palette featuring 6 eyeliners, 4 brow shades and a mini face primer.  Logging onto Sephora shortly to throw more of my money at them!

Look of the Day!

Jun 17, 2010

Lately it's been hot as you know what outside.  I have had little to no motivation to do anything at all but I have been forcing myself to take daily walks to get some air and to play with my sonshine!  He loves the outdoors and so I brave it for him.  Oh, and notice my little hair beanie thingie!  I have been on a no-heat hair diet so I just brush it back and put my little cap on!  I need to get some more of these things cause I love them!

So yesterday I actually left my apartment complex and went to an appointment so I decided to  a little extra on my makeup and post the entire look here!

Please excuse the excess shine as I took this picture after being out all day and sweating my tookis off.  The flash on my camera probably doesn't help either but oh well...I like it.

I am wearing the following on my face:

Yes, I know this is a lot of product.  Leave me a comment if you want a step-by-step of how I applied each product.  And yes, I can get ready in less than an hour!

Oh and btw, I am completely obsessed with Hipness blush and have been wearing it everyday lately.  I need to contact Nordie's to see if they have any left as MAC is sold out....booo!

Also, I have my MAC Funtabulous Dazzleglass on my lippies! Loves it!

So now on to the Eyes!

I used the following:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
MUFE Eyebrow Corrector - 4
MAC Studio Finish Concealer - NW40
BE White Gold Eye Color
BE True Gold Glimmer
Urban Decay Mildew Eye Shadow
Too Faced Wicked Green Eye Shadow from the Smokey Eye Palette
MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
Urban Decay 24-7 Glide On Eye Pencil - Zero
BE Buxom Insider Eye Liner - Emerald
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara - Excessive Black

Now, I warned you guys that I put a little extra into this day...hey I was bored so I tried a bunch of products on.  I had to leave them on my counter yesterday so I could remember what I used!  Oh and again, if anyone wants me to give a step-by-step, please leave a comment or tweet me or message me on facebook!  Til next time, I am out!

Magazine Haul!

Jun 16, 2010

Hi Loves,

Ready for the continuation of Magazine week here on become glam?  Well if you're not...too bad cause here it is!
My fave fave fave magazine right now is People Sylewatch.  Every month it is amazeballs.  Seriously, I love the reasonable fashion picks, the makeup pages and the fact that it is not bogged down with a lot of articles about randomness.  Sign me up for a subscription!   The June/July issue has the gorg Lauren Conrad on the cover looking very beachy glam.  I am a brow girl and I have to say that her brows are working in this cover picture.  She is currently a Mark spokesperson so a lot of the makeup she is wearing is from the brand of course and they list the products on Page 22 so check it out for some really reasonably priced makeup products.

The first picture that stood out for me was the gorg Eva Mendez but something else on the page caught my eye even more than her pretty face and that was the picture of the Givenchy Le Prisme Eyeshadow in Island Lagoon.  Someone please tell me why I don't have this...oh yeah I remember!  It's because when I went to Sephora, the Givenchy display was bare....booo!  I was super p.o.'d.  But anyway back to the page.  My other must haves from this page are the Nars  Multiple in Cadaques (I just want to try a multiple so badly), the NYX Cosmetics Cream Blush in Hot Pink (love my pink blushes) and the YSL Gloss (because I'm a label whore).
Check out these products and more on Page 135.

Look at Whitney looking so glowrgeous!  Yes, I just made that word up on the spot...even though I am probably not the first one to think it or write it but I like to pretend I am a genius!

The only thing that I really want from this page is the Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #12.  I was freaking lusting after this one until I realized that I hauled this on Saturday and haven't even taken it out of the box.  Will blog about that later on.  The other thing that kinda caught my eye was the L'Oreal Paris HIP Studio Secrets Professional Crystal Shadow Duo in Precious.  I watched the movie now why not have the makeup?!!  Totally kidding.  This duo looks really pretty and I want to try it.  I will skip the D&G lipgloss on this one because the packaging doesn't look that exciting.  Also, wondering if Aqua Bunny is too light for me...probably!  I will swatch that out at Sephora on Saturday.
Look to Page 134 for these treats!

The last page on my radar was the Look for Less Page 103.  Although I'm not that excited by Molly's makeup, I do love the fact that they show what she is wearing for those who would like to emulate the look.  I also love the fact that they show a less expensive alternative to achieve the look and the cost comparison between the two versions.
The only thing that I like on this page is the Smashbox Cosmetics Lip Enhancing Gloss in Pout.  This is on my like to have list but not my must have list.

Go get this mag stat!  Not only is the makeup great but so are the fashion options!  Go Go Go pick this up.

Look of the Day!

Jun 15, 2010

I thought that while I am waiting for my camera battery to charge, I should at least post a new look.  I seriously did lashes for the first time in like forever today and of course I curled one and forgot to curl the other!  Major Brain freeze!  Good thing I can just crop the picture.  So here it is for your viewing pleasure.  Let me know if you likey.

 Eye Products Used:
MAC NW40 Studio Finish Concealer (under brows to define)
MAC Painterly Paint Pot (all over lid as the eye shadow base)
BE Platinum Eye Color (all over lid)
MAC Mystery Eye Shadow (used lightly in the outer corner and crease to blend out the Platinum color)
BE White Gold Eye Color (inner corner)
MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (to line upper lash line)

Magazine Week!

Jun 14, 2010

Before I start let me just state that I use exclamation points entirely too much but I love them, so I'm not going to stop.  However, recognizing you have a problem is the first step!

This week I am really trying to get inspiration for creating different looks for my Look of the Day postings and also just to get more Haul ideas so I can spend more money on makeup!  Today's Mag of the Day is Glamour July 2010 issue.  I bought this about a week ago and  I am loving this issue because of the 500 buys under $50.  I mean really, what beauty/fashion girl could resist that?  But this post is about makeup of course so on to that.  The first thing is the Jessica Biel of it all.  She is looking very bombshell and is totally working that liner.  I love this look on her and she should look like this all the time in my humble opinion.  You can find more amazing photos of her inside the mag of course and my faves are on Pages 130 and 131.

I mean really check out the lashes..can my lashes hit my eyebrows please!  Her makeup was done by Kara Yoshimoto Bua but the mag doesn't give a list of the actual products used...it just states that Bua used eyeliner, illuminator and nude lipstick.  I wish I knew all the details of the look so I could obsess over it even more.

My next inspiration came as soon as I opened the magazine.  There was an ad for Lancome Teint Idole Ultra, which claims to have 14 hour wear, flawless coverage and all day comfort.  Um, where do I sign up?  I promise you this weekend, you will be able to find me at the nearest Lancome counter.  I need to try this asap!  Oh why do I have to live in the middle of nowhere?

Arlenis Sosa is looking extra fierce by the way!  Love her.  Find this ad on Page 1.

Last but not least, my love for blue eyeliner and shadow is captured on page 156.  I love this look  Simple, Lovely, Captivating...I sound like a bad perfume commercial but whatever, that is how I see it!

Love Love Love and that is all.  Perfect beachy look!

Review: Smashbox Iconic Eyes

Jun 11, 2010

It's me again!  Miss me yet?  Hope so.  Anywhoo to the point, a few weeks ago I received an email from Smashbox offering 20% off of an entire purchase so duh, I went to the Smashbox website post haste!  Oh and they have free shipping I mean really what was I supposed to do, pass up this opportunity?  Okay so I browsed and landed upon the Iconic Eyes Kit.  I picked this one because it had a bunch of items that I have never tried from Smashbox and since I am new to the brand I figured why not try out as much as possible....and they gave me a free sample of the o-gloss (which btw I cannot find so I am a little annoyed).  The box is really cute although I hate stickers on boxes.  This value sticker states that this is an Ulta exclusive but I bought it directly from Smashbox so I'm not sure that putting the sticker on there was the best idea.  I do like the actual value though!

So now to the good stuff....what's in the box?  The kit includes the following:

1.  Bionic Mascara in Jet Black

This is not so Bionic after all.  It was just okay.  I would definitely not use this on a daily basis unless I decide to try the "no-makeup" look.
2.  Mini Photo Finish Lid Primer

My cream shadow creased terribly...no likey!  I will try this again with just regular eye shadow and see if I like it any better.

3.  Cream Eye Liner Duo in Infamous

Oh so pretty!  LOVES the blue...the brown is just okay.

4.  Eye Shadow Palette in Iconic Eyes

Hate the fact that these colors aren't named or labeled...
The Icy Pink shade (top right) is a pretty inner eye color but shows up as white on my complexion.
The Espresso shade (top left) is really great for blending
The Golden Beige shade (bottom left) is pretty but nothing spectacular

The blue is icy and I likey a lot!

5.  Precision Liner Brush #28
Both brushes are AWESOME!  I love that they are soft to the touch but firm when applying color.

6.  Shadow Brush #32

7.  How to Guide

I always love when company's include a how-to-guide but I hate that the names of the colors aren't labeled!  Arrgh.

FINAL VERDICT:  Definitely not regretting the purchase because I love the brushes and the blue cream liner and for the price you can't beat it.  I created some really pretty looks but hate the creasing.  Me likey not lovey!
