Look of the Day - Instaglam Instagram featuring Banana Powder

Mar 10, 2013

I've been playing around with highlight and contour a lot lately as I think this is an integral part of being a makeup artist and something that I love to do.  I also am always trying to improve my technique and hopefully learn something new.  In my kit and in my personal collection I have the Ben Nye Banana Powder.  I have received tons of questions from people wanting to know if the Banana Powder will work for them. Since I have received so many questions I decided to do a look on myself showing how the Banana Powder looks on darker skin.  For reference purposes, I am a MAC NW43/45 and I wear Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 175.

The Banana Powder is definitely more of a severe highlight look than I usually do but I still like it, however, I do prefer the Beige Suede for a more natural highlight.

For more information about the Ben Nye Powders, be sure to check out my post here.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I think it looks great on you! I honestly have seen too many youtubers and it looks a hot mess!

  2. This is a beautiful look! Can you share the details?

  3. Sorry I totally missed this comment! I'm wearing the following:

Make Up For Ever Eyebrow Corrector #4 - brows
MAC Eyeshadows in Texture and Patina and a darker brown (I can't remember the exact shade)
    Clinique Gel Eyeliner
    bareMinerals Buxom Eyeliner in Emerald
MAC Pillowtalk Lipstick with Urban Decay Gloss in Wallflower
Lancome Teint Idole Foundation w/ MAC Studio Finish Concealer and Studio Finish Powder Foundation.

  4. I just discovered your blog (I was looking for lip swatches of MAC Heroine lipstick) and I'm so happy that I found it. Your makeup looks are great! I'm so happy that I've found a WOC (who wears similar shades of foundation- extra bonus for me) with beautiful makeup that I can try to emulate!

  5. Hi Sabrina! Your so beautiful. which of the Ben nye shades do you prefer tho? Banana or beige suede?
    Thanks in advance

  6. Hi Kim! Thanks! I prefer Beige Suede. It looks more natural.
