Look of the Day - Instaglam Instagram featuring Banana Powder
Mar 10, 2013
I've been playing around with highlight and contour a lot lately as I think this is an integral part of being a makeup artist and something that I love to do. I also am always trying to improve my technique and hopefully learn something new. In my kit and in my personal collection I have the Ben Nye Banana Powder. I have received tons of questions from people wanting to know if the Banana Powder will work for them. Since I have received so many questions I decided to do a look on myself showing how the Banana Powder looks on darker skin. For reference purposes, I am a MAC NW43/45 and I wear Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 175.
The Banana Powder is definitely more of a severe highlight look than I usually do but I still like it, however, I do prefer the Beige Suede for a more natural highlight.

Ben Nye Luxury Powders - Cameo, Buff, Banana, Beige Suede, Nutmeg, Dark Cocoa
Jan 1, 2013
I've been upgrading my freelance kit for the past few months now. I recently tried the Ben Nye Beige Suede and Banana Powders on myself and I loved them so I decided to order some for my kit. I ordered 3 light shades and 3 darker shades. There are additional shades available but I settled on these 6 and I think I'll be able to cover any client with these shades.
Ben Nye Luxury Powder
Shades Purchased: Cameo, Buff, Banana, Beige Suede, Nutmeg, Dark Cocoa
Price: $7.99-$8.50 USD for 1.5oz
Available at CameraReadyCosmetics
Now I mostly use these powders to set concealer underneath the eyes and on super oily clients to set their t-zone and/or face depending on how oily the person is. I absolutely love these powders and they will continue to be a staple makeup product both in my personal and professional collections.
Let me know if you have any questions about these powders and I will be more than happy to answer them for you.

I use this product to set concealer under eyes and down the bridge of my nose mostly as it is a matte finish and I already have dry skin so I don't need this all over my face. I apply this product with a latex-free cosmetic sponge and after letting it sit for a few minutes, I swipe off the excess product with my Real Techniques Contour brush.
I love how this product sets my concealer and highlights the skin. I also love that it doesn't look ashy and looks great in photos as well. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it is hard to blend out the edges because it sets so well. This is a minor issue as you just have to take a bit more time blending.
It does have a sifter so you can sift out the amount of product that you would like to use. The sifter does release quite a bit of product though so be careful.
Overall, I definitely recommend this product and I have purchased another on to add to my kit!
