Product Spotlight - Dior Addict Lipstick Rock & Roll

Jul 26, 2011

Missed all of you!  I took my mom to Paris for a couple days and now we are hanging out in Germany until she leaves me.  Insert sad face here!  The day before I left for Paris, I received my Dior Lipstick in the mail and I was so excited.  My excitement has waned now that I have fallen in love with a freakin $28.00 lipstick!  Sigh.  I love how it's sheer but you still see the color.  I also love how it doesn't dry out my lips at all.  I definitely want more of these.

Dior Addict Lipstick
Available at select retailers including Macy's
$28 USD
Purchased Shade: 750 Rock N' Roll
Loves:  How it glides across the lips, not sticky, lasts about 3-4 hours on me, color is gorgeous
Hates:  Glitter was still on my lips after the lipstick wasn't

Love it!  Have you guys tried any of these lipsticks?  If so, which shade is your favorite?

Product Spotlight - Sugarpill Sweetheart Palette

Jul 17, 2011

The weekends over...what happened?  I'm continuing to shop my stash and I came across my Sugarpill palette.  I rarely touch this palette but I don't know why.  I love it!  I came up with a simple look using the Sweetheart Palette and it came out pretty!  Sorry for the car photo shoots lately but I was in a rush to get to my volunteer assignment.
Top: Dollipop, Afterparty   Bottom:  Midori, and Tako
I'm wearing all four shadows in this quad.  Dollipop is used all over the lid and in the crease.  I then deepened the crease with Afterparty.  I used a little Midori on the outer lid and Tako in the inner corner.

I used Clinique Gel Liner in True Black for the top lashline and MAC Smolder on the water line.  I used MAC's Undercurrent Pearlguide Eyeliner on the the bottom lash line.

Well that's all folks!  I hope you like this look and I hope you don't mind me shopping my stash.  Oh and let me know if you have any questions about any of the other products I'm wearing in this look!

Depotting MAC Eye Shadows

Jul 14, 2011

So, I've been trying to get organized and regroup my makeup stash.  I've never depotted anything before because honestly I'm usually too lazy.  But depotting saves a whole lotta space and makeup obsessed people like me, need their space.

I was quite bored the other day, the son was napping and the hubs was working so I decided to start my depotting experience.  Now, I'm going to show you my second one because the first one I set a little on fire, but it still came out okay.

This is how I depotted my 2 MAC eye shadows.  (I have a lot more to go)
*Click on images to enlarge them*

Start with your eyeshadow (DUH!)
Pry off the top insert
This is what it should look like
Get lighter and hold it a few inches from the bottom of the insert.  Of course ignite the flame. Hold until you see underside melting
This is what the bottom looks like
Use a tool to prick through the bottom to loosen the pan.  Remove the pan insert completely
Glue at the bottom of the pan can be removed if you like
Tools used

Now the one thing I forgot to buy are magnets in order to set these in my palette.
Well that's all folks!  Let me know if there is a different or more efficient way to depot.  And let me know how to B2M these things!

Bye for now

Product Spotlight - Stila After Hours Eye Shadow

Jul 10, 2011

I've decided to stop being a makeup hoarder and actually use the products that I buy.  What an idea, right!  I'm always trying to stick to my beauty budget but being a beauty blogger and beauty lover, this is not always an easy thing to do.  I always see "shop my stash" posts from some of the beauty bloggers that I follow, so I thought I would try doing that.  I want to start with products that I actually have swatched, purchased, brought home and stashed, yet have never worn.  This may be a long series of posts....hope you'll don't mind too much.  So without further ado, I will get on with the post!

Stila Eye Shadow Trio
Available at select retailers including Sephora & Stila
$20 USD
Purchased Shade: After Hours (bright violet/ gunmetal gray/ teal)
Loves:  The staying power, the colors, the color pay-off
Hates:  Nothing really.  It's pretty darn good in my humble opinion
These are what the shadows look like worn on my eye.  I tried not to blend too much so that you can still see the shades.
This is the full face view and I really like the shadows and I'm glad that I shopped my stash and tried them out.  Oh and sorry about the wonky picture, I was on my way to volunteer and the hubs jumped in the picture so I had to crop his big head out!  I don't think he wants to be on a beauty blog!

June 2011 Favorites

Jul 6, 2011

Wow, I can't believe it's July already!  I'm super excited because I have a trip coming up and I can't wait.  On to the makeup.  I don't have many faves from last month as I've been kinda low key with the makeup lately and I need to drink more water because my skin is not my friend right now. Now on with the faves!

  • MAC Highlight Powder - Marine Life
I can't believe I don't use this color more.  I love the dark pink side as a blush and the lighter pink side...I kinda ignore but I should really stop doing that!
  • Nars Sheer Glow Foundation - New Guinea
Yup I'm officially in love with this foundation.  I got so many compliments on my skin (not on my foundation).  It is amazing and it has replaced my Make Up For Ever HD foundation because I love it almost as much and it is easier for me to purchase because I can get it locally!
  • Bobbi Brown Gel Eye Liner - Caviar Ink
I can't even remember buying this, which is shameful, but while re-organizing my makeup stash I came across this and decided to give it a try.  So glad I did because this is creamy and glides on perfectly.  Love it!  It also didn't move but mind you, I wasn't in the heat so I haven't really put it to the ultimate test.  Let me know if you guys would like a review and I'll test it out and give you details.
  • MAC Bronzer Stick - Billionaire Bronze
Love at first swipe.  Awesomeness in a tube.  I am wondering if I should have purchase a backup of this.  It blends like no other and doesn't leave stickiness behind, which I was afraid of when I saw the consistency of the product.

Top Row: Billionaire Bronzer, Cassis Lip Gloss, Nars Sheer Glow, Caviar Ink Eye Liner Bottom Row: Marine Life, Romantic Eye

  • Nars Illuminator - Orgasm
Love this product and again I should use it more often.  I blend this around my cheek bones and it gives the best glow ever.  I like to use it in conjunction with my liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer.  I blend it with my fingers or a MAC 130 brush.
  • Bare Escentuals Natural Lip Gloss - Cassis
This color is really pretty but in an understated way.  It used to be a constant fixture in my makeup bag when I worked for Bare Escentuals and I still go for it.  The formula isn't long wearing but it lasts maybe 2-3 hours and isn't sticky.
  • Too Faced Romantic Eye Collection
Great wearable colors.  Good color payoff and cute packaging.  My favorite color in the collection is First Dance.

What were some of your favorites for the month of June?  Come on, Spill it! :-)

MAC's All of My Purple Life Lipglass

Jul 2, 2011

I went ahead and jumped on the bandwagon that is the MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Collection.  I wanted all of the lipglasses except for Evolution Revolution but I decided to only get one since I have too much makeup as is.  I decided to haul All of My Purple Life because it is truly gorgeousness in a tube.

D

Did you haul anything from this collection?  If so, spill it.  If not, why?
